GATHER ATL: BEST OF ATLANTA 2009!!
This morning, word broke out that Gather Atlanta ranked No. 1 in the Creative Loafing’s Readers’ Picks category for Best Art Event of 2009 and featured prominently in the Critics’ Picks entry for Best Trends in the Arts:
All run by young thinkers, doers and lovers of burgeoning local art scenes, these art collectives are answering the call to unite Atlanta’s emerging talent. The trend culminated last June at Gather Atlanta. Held at Eyedrum and presented by MINT, WonderRoot, and local arts blogs BurnAway and ThoughtMarker, the event cultivated a vigorous and much needed dialogue among the various communities.
That’s right people: You voted us the best in the city! And the accolades come pouring in. BurnAway.org received the Readers’ Award for Best Local Arts Blog, followed by runner-up ThoughtMarker. Young Blood Gallery won Best Place to Score Affordable Art in both the Critics’ and Readers’ categories. Beep Beep Gallery won the Readers’ Award for Best Gallery Spotlighting Local Artists. And WonderRoot won the Critics’ Pick for Best Public Art. Check the full listing to see favorable mentions of Art House Coop and other Gather Atlanta member organizations.
Thanks Atlanta!! We’re the best? No, really, you’re the best.
