Panel speakers: Matt Haffner and Michael David Murphy!!

Hello Atlanta!

This week we announce our final two panel speakers. In lieu of the usual, long-winded post, today we’ll keep things short and sweet.

Please welcome our two guests:

Matt Haffner is an Atlanta-based artist and Professor of Photography at Kennesaw State University. Working with combinations of photography and other media, his work deals with ambiguous narratives that are derivative of film noir, comic books and graffiti. He is represented in New York by Lyons Wier Gallery, and in Philadelphia by Pentimenti Gallery. Matt was a recent recipient of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia’s Working Artist Project, and currently has a solo exhibition at the museum through June 6th. Haffner’s Serial City project was the featured public art project for Atlanta Celebrates Photography in 2006. His exhibition Dreams of the Sleeping Giant is currently on view at the Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia (MOCA GA).

Michael David Murphy is an Atlanta-based photographer and writer. Murphy currently serves as Program Manager for Atlanta Celebrates Photography (ACP). His last two exhibitions, “The Jena Project” and “So Help Me” were both at Opal Gallery. His installation, “Unphotographable”, was included in “Command Z” at the Torrance Art Museum. UNphotographable is also the name of Michael’s online project, essentially a photography blog, but one with zero photographs. (See also Murphy’s Pecha Kucha presentation on his Obama election campaign photos.) His words and photographs have been featured in international publications including: People Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Magazine, MSNBC, USA Today, BBC2, Wired Magazine, Foto8, and the CBC.

Perhaps you know them? Keep reading this space for more updates, and, of course, see you on SATURDAY, JUNE 6 at 6:00PM for Gather Atlanta!
