Partner Profile: WonderRoot

When we began talking about WonderRoot years ago, one of our primary concerns was helping build an infrastructure for Atlanta’s independent artists and arts organizations. Gather Atlanta is a such a wonderful opportunity for us to do just that!  MINT, Burn Away, and ThoughtMarker are emerging leaders in Atlanta’s creative communities and we honored to be a founding organization of Gather Atlanta with them.

WonderRoot is an Atlanta-based non-profit organization committed to uniting artists and community to inspire positive social change.  Our objectives are to:

a) provide arts-based production facilities to Atlanta-based artists.

b) facilitate arts-based service programming in the Atlanta community.

c) encourage artists to be proactive in their communities by engaging in arts-based service work.

Basically, we run the WonderRoot Community Arts Center in Reynoldstown.  At the community center we have open access studios, arts education programs, after-school programs for youth, events and more.  We also work in schools, partner with community groups, and facilitate public art projects.

This month we are celebrating the one-year anniversary of the opening of the WonderRoot Community Arts Center.  It’s been a great year and we can’t wait to see what this next one has to offer. Gather Atlanta will be a great way for us to celebrate and do some of that important coalition building that is essential to the implementation of our vision!
