Join the Gather Atlanta Crowd on Thursday, December 17 from 7-10pm at the Magnetic Theatre. The event is free and an opportunity to network and chat with your friends at Atlanta’s emerging arts organizations and collectives. It’s also a celebration of all that we’ve done to make Atlanta a great place for the arts in 2009. Food and drink will be provided, we’ll have a couple of DJs, and we’ll talk about future Gather Atlanta projects and events. Please let us know if you’ll be able to make it. Bring a date, bring a friend, bring an attitude. End the year right!
Send an email to gather@gatheratlanta.com to request more info or to RSVP.
First, we would like to say thank you to all of you who participated in the first Gather Atlanta event this past June. Not only do we want to say thanks for your participation, but also for the work you do to foster creativity and innovation among Atlanta’s art communities. Last month Gather Atlanta won ‘Best Art Event’ in Creative Loafing’s Best of Atlanta issue. We were so excited to know that Atlanta realizes the importance of collaboration in the arts.
Since the event in June, we have brainstormed about what Gather Atlanta’s future will look like. After such a positive response from our first event, we feel it is necessary to continue to encourage and facilitate collaboration among Atlanta’s independent arts groups. Many of you provided feedback that suggested you want an opportunity to work/meet with one another.
In response, we have decided to begin hosting mixers/networking events for Gather Atlanta’s participating organizations. On Wednesday, November, we will host the first of several such events at MINT Gallery. The event is free and refreshments will be provided. The intent is to provide a venue where all of you can begin to dialogue about possible partnerships and collaborations.
More Gather Atlanta events are in the works and we look forward to your participation. Please email gather@gatheratlanta.com if you plan to attend.

All run by young thinkers, doers and lovers of burgeoning local art scenes, these art collectives are answering the call to unite Atlanta’s emerging talent. The trend culminated last June at Gather Atlanta. Held at Eyedrum and presented by MINT, WonderRoot, and local arts blogs BurnAway and ThoughtMarker, the event cultivated a vigorous and much needed dialogue among the various communities.
That’s right people: You voted us the best in the city! And the accolades come pouring in. BurnAway.org received the Readers’ Award for Best Local Arts Blog, followed by runner-up ThoughtMarker. Young Blood Gallery won Best Place to Score Affordable Art in both the Critics’ and Readers’ categories. Beep Beep Gallery won the Readers’ Award for Best Gallery Spotlighting Local Artists. And WonderRoot won the Critics’ Pick for Best Public Art. Check the full listing to see favorable mentions of Art House Coop and other Gather Atlanta member organizations.
Thanks Atlanta!! We’re the best? No, really, you’re the best.
